Hey guys! We miss seeing everyone and shooting our videos but with the pandemic we had to hit pause. Don’t worry we will be back and have some exciting news coming soon.
Viewer discretion advised! This video hits the heart strings and is what we are all truly missing during this pandemic!! To see everyone come together in unity and without the recent conflicts is what we are all missing!!! We know the city had to push pause on this wonderful city event for many reasons and we are not advocating for them to do anything different and we support our city and the tough decisions they are faced with each day. We just wanted to share the love that our community has and it will be back one day!!
In this episode of Life in Roswell realtors Matt and Jeremey talk with Chris Ward, with the city of Roswell who puts on the Alive in Roswell festival. Alive in Roswell is a free family-friendly monthly festival normally held every third Thursday evening (5:00 - 9:00 PM) from April through October.
Tell Us About The Alive In Roswell Festival
As you know, Alive in Roswell has been in business for about 10 years; 10, 12 years now. Recently, the last couple of years, the city has taken it over on their own. 2020 is going to be the same. We're going to have, this year, three different venues. Canton Street, which is our real party venue, East Alley, which is a little more artist vibe, and then finally The Square, which is more toward young families and couples with young kids. A lot of jumpy houses, a lot of food, ice cream vendors and stuff like that. So we're really looking forward to another great year with our vendors and sponsors.
How Did It All Come Together?
Several years ago, a person who worked in our Recreation and Parks department was at a conference and they were doing it in North Carolina and she brought the idea back and started it. And then it kind of developed over the last several years. It was run by an outside source for a while; a nonprofit. And then the last several years we decided we'd kind of take it up and kind of tuck it in a little bit, make it a little bit of a cleaner event and wanted to kind of own it as a city. So Special Events took it over two years ago and I'm trying to, each season, kind of take it up another notch with additional LED boards. This year, we're going to have some robotics. We're going to have DJs and we're kind of incorporating some of the local businesses to do their live music as opposed to having to our own live bands.
Is There Something For Everyone At The Festival?
What's great about it is, while there is a section that is a real party section and it's for everyone from 20 year olds to seventy year olds. But if you do want something a little quieter, if you have small children, you can go to The Square and kind of have a glass of wine or a beer, let your kids run around and then that kind of tucks up early at 8:30 and you can have time to get home and get your kids back into bed.
I do want to mention that the trolley will be back this year. And so that's always fun to get our people moving from one venue to the next and it's kind of fun for the kids as well.
Where Can People Learn More About The Event?
People can go to our website www.aliveinroswell.com. We also have a Facebook page, it's Alive in Roswell as well. We keep everything up to date. We highlight our vendors but on the webpage you can find everything from parking to transportation, to links to take Uber and we'll also have the kind of DJ information, food truck information, anything, and then we'll have a list of all of our vendors. So it's kind of all inclusive right there.
